THE P&O Group, through its subsidiary Northern Ireland Trailers (Scotland), has announced a capacity increase for its Scotland-Northern Ireland route.
The 60-trailer ro-ro freight ferry will replace the 30trailer ferry called Pointer
which has operated the daily Ardrossan-Belfast service since 1977.
P&O has bought the Myrcandian Carrier from Denmark's Mercandia, of Copenhagen, and the vessel is to be modified before beginning its Irish Sea service. The ferry is also to be renamed Belard, and is to begin service in 1)ecember.
