VAUXHALL Motors — and that includes Bedford commercial vehicles — has announced a net loss of £1,977,000 for the first half of this year.
Referring to these "disappointing results" president and managing director Ferdinand Beickler said they could be considerably improved in the second half of the year as productivity increases.
He reported that a strong demand for Vauxhall and Bedford products had not been fully met by production due to national and internal disputes, particularly in the first half of the period.
But Bedford sales have been encouraging and were 39 per cent above the first half of last year. Improved continuity of production in future should bring about better results on the car side as well.
