Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A strong response is reported to tenders put out by London Transport for 95 singledeck, underfloor-engined bus chassis. The vehicles will be 3011 long and 711 6in. wide and will replace RF models.

At least one of the companies tendering is known to be a foreign manufacturer. LT has also tried the Bristol CHS recently. When a tender has been selected — and they must be returned by September 24 — further tenders will go out for bodies.

The 95 small buses are the balance of a 938-vehicle bus -order about to be placed by LT (CM August 24). The remaining 843 double-deckers have not yet been tendered for.
