Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The Government must act quickly on the British Leyland situation. Their seemingly endless financial and industrial troubles are fast making the name a worldwide music hall joke. While Leyland Cars' management and workforce, aided and abetted by th Ryder solution, may have made a farce of Britain's major vehicle manufacturer, the men at Truck and Bu deserve a more moderate description.

There have been troubles at Truck and Bus as ther have been elsewhere in industrial Britain, but not on the extravagant scale that the car workers have engaged in. The Cowley and Long bridge plants are eating the heart out of the heavy vehicle plants. The once proud marques of the Leyland range now carry the stigma of BL.

The Truck and Bus men are too loyal to suggest separate identities — let us do it for them. Give Leylai Cars back its other name, BMC, let Leyland drop the British tag and make them both stand on their own feet.
