Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

APossibly in due course, but not for many

years yet? In fact it is unlikely that diesel engines will be produced in this form until the near-ultimate in design has been achieved and this possibility is of purely academic interest at the moment. On the other hand, if a gas turbine or rotary unit becomes a practical proposition it may well be produced as a throw-away unit after it has been proved in extended service.
