licence grant

N application fora new A licence by the Castle Storage and Forwarding Co., of Chapel Street, Liverpool, was heard at Liverpool last week by the North Western Deputy LA, Mr. A. H. Jolliffe.

Mr. J. Edward Jones for Castle said an agreement had been reached with British Railways and BRS for two of the five vehicles sought with a normal user of: empty containers, fruit and vegetables, machinery and canned foodstuffs, Lancashire, Cheshire, Midlands, Yorkshire and North East coast. If granted an A Contract licence would be surrendered.

The agreement was subject to an undertaking by Castle not to make any further application on any A licence granted for a period of six months, and to refrain from introducing further vehicles on Contract A. The two vehicles concerned were on shortterm A licence granted in July.

Mr. L. Eckersley, partner in Castle, said the two vehicles on the short-term licence didnot fully meet requirements but he was happy with the agreement. These vehicles had previously been on Contract A, consequently only three vehicles were now specified in that licence.

Mr. J. R. Eachus, of Libby McNeil and Libby, Liverpool, canned goods importers, said there had been delay before the introduction of the two short-term vehicles. Now the position was more satisfactory.

A grant was made for the two vehicles subject to the terms agreed.
