Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Al application by G. Sweeney Transport Ltd., for a new A licence for six vehicles must fail in general, said the North Western deputy Licensing Authority in Manchester last week. It was premature and should have been for a B.

He was, however, prepared to accept that some customers had been inconvenienced and would therefore make a grant of one vehicle on A licence, the other five vehicles to remain on Contract A licence.

G. Sweeney had applied for the licence to carry steel and steel products for the Miles Druce group of companies (COMMERCIAL MOTOR, September 30) subject to surrender of a Contract A licence with one of the member companies, Trafford Park Steel Co. Ltd.

For BRS, Mr. T. E. Railhead had submitted that since the application was for a group of companies a B licence was more appropriate; the capacity of the vehicles involved (total 36itons unladen) would likely make inroads in the revenue of Alicensed operators in respect of return loads.

More Roadiiners for Potteries: Potteries Motor Traction Co. Ltd., has ordered 22 more Daimler Roadliners, making its total 73 on order or in service. Nineteen of the new order will be service buses, the others coaches. All will have Metalastik toggle-link rubber suspension.

Coach Business Sold: Owing to the retirement of Mr. Buckley Eastwood, and his younger brother William, Pleasureways (1955) Ltd., has disposed of its coach and tours business to Shearings Holidays Ltd., of Altrincham.
