A.FIRM of bus operators in Stanley, Co. The chairman of the Northern Traffic Commissioners, Mr. John Hanlon, told the applicants at a sitting in Newcastle upon Tyne: "We are granting this application because it was in operation under dispensation before the standstill was announced."

Mowbray's Coaches and Mr. W. Hammel applied to increase fares between Stanley and Quaking Houses, Co. Durham, to bring them into Line with fare increases granted on April 30 to the Northern General Transport Co. Ltd., which also operates buses in Stanley. The applicants increased their fares under dispensation at the same time as the Northern General and other operators in the area.

They also applied to cut out their 9.30, 10 and 10.40 Sunday morning services, and to operate with Northern General on a reduced frequency basis on Saturdays.

Two other partners in the firm, J. S. Mowbray (Stanley) Ltd. and Mr. J. H. Hammel, applied to increase fares between Stanley and Durham, which had also been granted under dispensation. The Commissioners agreed to all the applications.

Test Centre Plan: A heavy vehicle testing centre may be built on Carlisle's Kingstown industrial trading estate. The City Council has no objections, subject to agreement on access and landscaping.
