THE holder of a contract licence for I hauling caravans, Jack • Stubbs, of Rarnshead Heights, Leeds, who wished to put two vehicles on B licence, was told on Tuesday that his licence might be revoked.
Cross-examined by Mr. R. E. Paterson, for objectors, Stubbs said that he had carried 22-ft„. and 26-ft. caravans for Trailways, Leeds, under the contract customer's authority, and that the invoice had been sent to Trailways, by whom he had been paid. The Deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. J. H. E. Randolph, pointed out that the licence did not permit this. .Stubbs replied that he had "to approach the firms for the money."
Mr. Randolph: You mean that in every case when Paladins load you up with one of their products you have to recover the money earned for the haulage from the consignee?—Yes, -sir.
Refusing the application, Mr. Randolph said that the position would be "closely investigated" by the enforcement branch.

SWEDISH CONVERTERS FOR BRITAIN
A RANGE of torque converters for
heavy-vehicle transmissions is to be manufactured in this country by the power division of Bristol Siddeley, Ltd., under licence from Svenska Rotor Maskiner, Stockholm. The SRM converters are stated to combine good efficiency with unusually high torque ratios which, at stall point, can be above 9 to 1. The units are particularly suitable for passenger vehicles or rail traction applications.
