The hear constant-speed characteristics of the high-preS.sure spool, combined with an almost constant reheat-burner temperature and varying air-flow Characteristics

(for varying power requirements) of the low-pressure spool, produces good partload fuel economy, with minimum fuel consumption being obtained at 50 per cent. load. At this loading the specific consumption rate is 0.48 lb. per h.p. per hour, whilst at full power the specific figure is 0.57 lb. per h.p. per hour.

The unit is 38 in. long, 29 in. wide and 28 in. high, and the output shaft rotates at 4,600 r.p.m. at full power.
