TRAVIS PERKINS' 15 bespoke five-tonne Isuzu rigids have delivered extra capacity, extra payload and better productivity while reducing mileage over the past 12 months, according to the operator.
The five-tonners use the Isuzu Forward 4x2 chassis cab, and are fitted with a aluminium beavertail body. Isuzu, Travis Perkins and Westons Car & Commercials have all worked together to develop the variant, which is being run in Travis Perkins' tool hire division, predominantly in the South West.
Group fleet manager Andy Ray said: "It enables us to achieve a 2-tonne payload on the chassis cab with the ability to tow a trailer with another 2.8 tonnes of payload, effectively reducing the number of journeys we need to make by half."
