Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SOUTH EAST TRAFFIC commissioner (TC) Nick Denton has suspended the 0-licence of a Wembley civil utilities firm for two weeks so drivers can be properly trained on how to keep records of their work.

During a public inquiry in London in October, the TC was told how a Vosa traffic examiner visited Boss Contracts' premises in March after two of its drivers were stopped at the roadside and found to have committed offences.

One driver, Bogdan Jucan, had exceeded the daily driving limit five times, while working time directive offences were also discovered. A second driver, Ciprian Jucan, exceeded the daily driving limit on one occasion and was also found to have exceeded the working time directive on several others. The business had: • failed to supervise duties carried out by drivers; • failed to pick up offences committed by drivers, including exceeding the daily duty time;

• failed to buy equipment needed to download driving records from a new vehicle's digital tachograph unit.

Director Aurec Lupsa said a system to oversee drivers' hours was now in place and fewer infringements were being committed. Denton made an order to curtail the firm's 0-licence authorisation from eight to five vehicles indefinitely.

Summing up

The business gave the TC an undertaking that it will have an audit of its transport systems carried out by December.
