has been found guilty of damaging a car after an argument with its driver.

Gregory Allport of Caunsall Road, Caunsall, West Bromwich caused three dents in the bonnet of the car during the altercation, magistrates heard. Paul Reid, prosecuting, said Allport had been driving his 17-tonner in Dudley Port in February when the incident happened. Reid said: "Allport stopped his lorry, got out and struck the bonnet of the car causing damage costing 2248.52 to repair." Allport pleaded not guilty but was found guilty and conditionally discharged for 12 months. He was ordered to pay 2248.52 compensation and 265 costs.

Jonathan Dollin, defending, said Allport ran a one-man business earning between 210,000 and 220,000 a year. Allport had been driving his lorry when the car tried to cut him up by driving on the inside. Dollin added: "The defendant feared there could be an accident and stopped his lorry to point this out. What happened after that was done in a reckless manner rather than with intent, but the defendant denies striking the bonnet."
