Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Before going on holiday I attended the Lorry Driver of the Year finals at MOTEC on 15 September. I have attended the finals of this competition on a number of occasions and have always come away with the impression that not all is bad within the industry.

On my return from holiday I was dismayed to find that the event had gone by almost unreported in the trade press.

I suggest that your publication does a disservice to the organisers of this event and to the thousands of professional drivers who have taken the time and effort to go to the regional heats with the ambition to win a place in the final.

Talking to a number of drivers at MOTEC I found them to be highly motivated, impeccably turned out and aware that they represent the cream of the UK transport industry. It is my view that the least you could do is give an appropriate level of coverage to this prestigious event in your publication.

Every week we read of drivers being convicted of this or that offence, of drivers involved in accidents that have closed motorways for hours, and of drivers pushing up the middle lane of motorways at 75mph.

I would like to see your publication giving more coverage to the hard working dedicated professionals that keep British industry moving. B M Molloy, Distribution director, Silentnight Beds, Colne, Lancs.
