Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SEDDON ATKINSON has revised its pricing policy in a move which it hopes other manufacturers will follow.

Over the past 18 months, it has introduced a series of discounts, with increasingly complex sales allowances, to meet competition, principally from foreign competitors.

But, in order to simplify its system, it introduced a new system of list prices and dealer discounts on November 1, in which around half of its listed items have been reduced slightly in price, and around half have been increased by a similar amount.

Overall, there has been a 4.5 per cent increase in prices, over those charged at the depth of the recession, and SA said it hopes that its competitors will adopt a similar approach in order to improve profit margins for the company and its dealers.
