the Eindehoven-based board of management at the end of 1982. Mr Mansell joined the board in 1978. His responsibility was for worldwide marketing and sales. Before this he had been responsible for the setting up of the company's UK operations, based at Marlow, Buckinghamshire. His successor is to be Aart Van der Padt, a fellow member of the board of management.
Vic Waters of the Michelin Tyre Co Ltd has been elected president of the Tyre Manufacturers' Conference and chairman of the Tyre Executive Committee of the British Rubber Manufacturers Association. Mr Waters has been with Michelin for 27 years and has represented it on the Tyre Executive Committee since August 1978. Mr Waters takes over from Gareth Hardwick of Dunlop, who has. taken up an overseas post in the Dunlop organisation.
Sheffield Haulage and Storage Ltd has promoted Arthur Kellett to general manager. He takes over from Ken Stoneman, who retires after 18 years with the company. Mr Kellett was formerly with Cory Distribution and SPD Ltd.
David Norbury is taking over as director of UK freight service sales for Thomas Meadows and Co Ltd. He will direct and co-ordinate Meadows' UK sales effort, and will report to managing director Bob Kelly. Mr Norbury joined Meadows in 1975
and became manager of the company's Norwich branch in 1978.
Wincanton Vehicle Rentals Ltd has made Tom May national accounts manager. Mr May will be responsible for national accounts contract hire nationwide, and will be based at the company's headquarters in Western Avenue, London.
Les Tyler has been made gen erai manager of CAR Truck Rental. He joined CAR in 1979 to set up the rental and contract hire division of Commercial Recovery and Repairs Ltd, of Bedfont in Middlesex. Geoff Pritchard has joined CAR Truck Rental as southern area manager. He was previously manager of the Heathrow depot of Dawsonrentals Ltd.
TRW Overseas Inc has appointed Roger Pinnington vice-president. As a result he has also been elected deputy chairman of Cam Gears Ltd, and has resigned as managing director. Alan Fletcher has been made managing director of Cam Gears, and Robert Lynes joins the Cam Gears board of directors.
Mike Birch has left Spartrucks to take over as managing direc tor of Midland Commer Vehicles (Stoke) Ltd. Mr I was technical directo Spartrucks and was based a dover. His new company bi operations on October 1, am member of the Ensor Hot Group.
Alan Damen takes ove marketing director of AE Parts Ltd of Bradford. Mr Da was previously with Holt I national, holding various SE appointments in the UK Europe. For the last two yea' has been managing directc its West German subsidiary.

WE RECORD with regret death of Raymond Beddow Beddow, 78, started woi with British Electric Tractic 1923 and was an executive d tor of the company from until his retirement in 1968.
