G3, H4—Watson Bros Ltd. THE Bedford TM, which was announced last year, makes its Scottish Show debut with two models, a 6 x 4 rigid and 4 x2 artic.

The 3m (9.8ft) wheelbase TM 3250 tractive unit is designed for operation at 32.5 tonnes (32 tons) gcw and is powered by the Detroit Diesel 6V-71 two-stroke diesel engine developing 161kW (216bhp) at 2,100rpni and 802Nm (5901bft) torque at 1,600rpm (BS AU 141a: net installed). Drive is transmitted via a 356mm (14in) twindry plate Lipe-Rolway clutch to a Fuller 'RTO 609 nine-speed with overdrive top range-change gearbox to the Bedford 11-tonne rear axle.

The new 8.2-litre (500cuin) 500 engine developing 113kW (151bhp) at 2,500rpm and 511Nm (3771bft) torque at 1,200rpm is :specified for the TM 2600 6x4 rigid. The 4.4m (14.6ft) wheelbase rigid is specified with the Eaton 542 six-speed overdrive gearbox and a double-drive rear bogie with Eaton axles. A third differential with lock is standard.

Both TM models are fitted with the slim D-type cab, which is hydraulically tilted for engine service access. Routine " level " checking is completed via hinged panels at the front of the oab.

Bedford middleweight trucks are represented by 4 x2 KD and KG models. The KD is plated for operation at 7.38 tons (7.5 -.tonnes) gvw, within the 7.5-tonne-weight limit which, from January 1, 1976, will govern the requirement for an hgv licence. The 3.4m (11,3ft) wheelbase KD is powered by Bedford's 5.4-litre (330ctrin) diesel engine.

The KG is plated for operation at 12.5 tonnes (12.4 tons) gvw 'and is powered by a derated version of the 500 engine producing 90kW (120bhp) at 2,500rpm (BS AU 141a: net installed).

At the light end of the tamp Bedford is exhibiting a 3.6m (11.7ft) Wheelbase version of the CF chassis-cab for 3.7m (12ft) long high-volume-capacity bodies. Powered by a 2.3-litre (140cudn) petrol engine, the vehicle is plated to 3.5 tonnes gvw.

Other vans on show include an 18cwt CF with 1.84itre petrol engine and an HA lOcwt an with 1.2-litre petrol engine.
