range of Dodge Job-rated trucks are reported from America to have a specific link with defence transport requirements. The new vehicles are intended to meet the needs of the long

range programme for highway transport that is resulting from millions of tons of goods and materials being called for at an increasing speed.

The complete new line of Dodges includes 112 standard chassis and body designs, with 18 different wheelbase lengths, ranging in capacity from halfton vans to heavy-duty petrol and oilengined units. Improved in numerous details, the new six-cylinder models retain most of the well-established features that have been proved by years of use.

Synchromesh gears are featured 10-cwt., 15-cwt. and 20-cwt. chassis. which all have three-speed gearboxes. The 30-cwt. model has a four-speed gearbox, whilst the 2and 3-tonners have five speeds. " Equal-pressure " hydraulic brakes are used throughout the range. For greater safety, heavyduty vehicles, both petrol and oil, are equipped with 10-in, servo-brake cylinders. Vacuum reserve tanks of 1,000cubic-in, capacity are featured as standard on the oilers.

Particularly adaptable to the demand for high efficiency in road transport are the dual-purpose vehicles, which are specially suitable where normal operations include both light and heavy or diminishing loads. They s.re made in 30-cwt., 2-ton and 3-ton capacities', being equipped, of course, with.twospeed axles that provide ratios for speed with economy, together with a second range for extra pulling ability on hills or under specially arduous conditions.
