Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN In a bid to enter the multiuser market, P&O Distribution has bought five depots from household goods manufacturer Reckitt & Colman.

The P&O European Transport Services company last week bought the distribution centres at Harlow, Leeds, Ripley and Glasgow, and took on 100 staff and 50 vehicles. Fellow-POETS company Pandoro has bought R&C's Belfast depot.

R&C distribution director Fraser Menzies becomes general manager in charge of multi-user development at P&O Distribution: "There will be no change in operation — but if there is a difference it will be because of my effort to get a few more lorries on the road with more shared-user business," he says.

The five depots are

used for local deliveries for R&C's two UK operating divisions, Reckitt & Colman Products and Colman's of Norwich: P&O will keep the work.

R&C retains its national warehouses at Bawtry, Yorks and Norwich, There will be no change in the use of up to 60 haulage contractors for the distribution of the company's products direct to customers.

Over the past five years R&Cs network has been reduced by half.
