• The Department of Employment is considering proposals from the RTITB concerning the training of redundant drivers CM, April 23). Existing legislation prohibits persons who are receiving unemployment benefit from taking any form of training course.
Although it is understood that the DoE is prepared to assist with the scheme there will need to be a legislative change before it can proceed. The Government has already stated that there is a shortage of Parliamentary time available and to make the relevant alteration may need an emergency measure.
