Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Complete protection of the blower of a bulk vehicle against over-pressure is claimed to be provided by a relief valve known as the 616 that is produced by Samuel Birkett Ltd.

It is light in weight but very robust. The valve is fully weatherproof and all working

parts are protected from road filth. A special disc material ensures that the valve remains pressure-tight if any of the conveyed powder should blow back into it.

Other advantages claimed for the valve include a non-stick seating surface that gives pressure tightness and freedom from sticking in the event of powder blow-back. All pressure parts are made of gunmetal and non-pressure parts are of light alloy. The valve is spring loaded and can be adjusted to suit its working conditions. It may be set at any pressure between 5 psi and 15 psi and subsequently fixed by a lead seal to stop unauthorised interference.

It has a 2in. BSP female inlet connection and when set at a pressure of 15 psi it is capable of discharging 600 cu.ftimin with a pressure rise of not more than 1.5 psi. The approximate weight of the valve is 411b.
