Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A PROGRAMME of standardization of its low-loading trailers and semi-trailers has been started by Crane Fruehauf Trailers

Lid. Ibis, it is claimed, will enable the company to give improved deliveries at lower costs and will ease the supply of spares. The standardization has been introduced in the range of 8to 14-ton vehicles, including the detachable rear axle and deckover-ty re types. A full range of optional extras is available and these canbe fitted at a later dale if required. Within a short period the entire range from 8 to 58 tons payload will be standardized.

All the standardized models employ braking systems meeting the latest C. and requirements, while tyre loadings are in line with the latest SMMT/Tyre Manufacturers recommendations.

A feature of the redesigning is the use of high-tensile beams for the main frame. Longitudinal hardwood decking of 1Z-in. finished thickness is laid flush with the top of the main members. The smallest semitrailer ersions are available with both automatic and SAE coupling whilst all the other standardized semi-trailers are fitted with fifth-wheel coupling. Wedge-type brakes are fitted si ith Iwo-line air-pressure actuation except tor those equipped with mechanical horse coupling and the 14-ton units, which have a three-line system.
