When the Minister was asked to give a direction to the Transport Holding Company to a co-operate with local authorities in the introduction of concessionary fares in jointly-operated bus services, he said that he did not consider this a suitable subject for a direction.
Mr. Eraser stated he is considering whether vehicles should he required to comnly with higher standards for the brightness of rear lights. He was asked this week to lay down new standards for rear lights on all commercial vehicles to ensure that the size and shape of the load was indicated, The Minister told his questioner that commercial vehicles were required to have rear lights and reflectors in position which indicated their width, and additional lamps had to be carried on any load projecting more than 12 in. laterally.
