WAGE :awards have added a sub
VV to the paybill of the West Riding Automobile Co., Ltd., and might entail a further revision of fares, at least so far as concessionary rates are concerned, and the curtailment or withdrawal of certain services. This was stated by Sir Ronald G. Leon, chairman, in his report.
He said that in the main areas of the company's operations there had been a steady increase in traffic revenue, and there were indications of an easing in prices of materials. He hesitated to make a forecast because of difficulties, notably, staff shortage and a high i rate of absenteeism, but he was confiflent that given a sufficiently long periqd of stability, services could be made of maximum public utility.
He regretted that the Chancellor of the Exchequer had not reduced the tax upon oil fuel. This was equivalent, he said, to 3d. per bus-mile.
