has added 15 new trucks to its fleet in a move it hopes will save it £3,000 a week in fuel. The new trucks include five Daf XF105.460s with Super Space cabs from local dealer Watts Truck & Van and 10 MAN units.
MD Gerry Jones said the Daf trucks would help benchmark the performance of the fleet, which was previously 100% MAN. "The 08 and 09 trucks are doing about 7.5mpg, whereas the newer Daf and MAN trucks are doing 9mpg," said Jones.
"If you do 2,500 km a week, that's a difference of 40 gallons. With the new trucks, you are £200 a week better off," he said.
