• Euroman, the MAN service and repair workshop in Faversham, Kent, has moved into a smaller workshop but doubled its turnover. Its new £200,000 base is inside parent company Portway's storage and distribution site.
Longer opening hours and separating trailer work allow a much greater throughout of vehicles. A trailer-only 'fast lane' service is being set up elsewhere on the site: "We must offer our customers a complete service," says Graeme Carling, Portway's Faversham depot general manager.
Since moving five months ago the workshop's workload has trebled and three extra technicians taken on.
The extended opening hours has helped Euroman to win service contracts for local fleets like that of Colin Ashby. which has now closed its own workshops.
Euroman expects servicing
Continental vehicles to account for up to 25% of its work by the end of the year. These will include trucks that call at the depot (which employs language experts), and those using the Channel ports.
