Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Yet again the snow threw Britain into chaos. However, the weather proved that speed limiters are not the answer. I witnessed a coach disappear off the M25, due to the driver's total disregard for the conditions. On the radio I heard a presenter refer to a double-decker doing 60mph (96km/h) in the third lane of the Ml, despite the lane being "closed" to any other road users. He said that the other traffic, including HGVs, was travelling at 30-35mph (4856km/h).

If snow had not made the coach number plate illegible, the presenter would have reported it to the police. Yet again we deservedly receive bad publicity. I also saw excessive speed by lorries using the M25, driving at 60mph (96kmih) on packed snow.

Operators must (surely) dismiss drivers who they believe are being so irresponsible. Look at your drivers' charts, tell them not to be so reckless. The minority must not be allowed to tarnish this industry. We should have been gaining good publicity by continuing "business as usual". Yet it seems that all our efforts are squandered by the thoughtless minority. What a shame. David Holmes, Holmes of Heathrow, Twickenham,
