Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The current Astramax cardo-ived van will not be replaced when the new Vauxhall car and Astravan ranges are launched later this year. The existing Astramax body will be retained and there are no plans to replace it with a model based on the new Astra in the foreseeable future. So, while Astravan buyers will get an all new model later this year, Astramax buyers will have to settle for a vehicle based on the model introduced in 1984.

Vauxhall says that the Astramax is competitive on payload and volume with the new Escort van so no change is necessary. However, CM understands that the Astramax will benefit from any significant changes to the new Astravan, such as engine and drivetrain Modifications.

Astramax production was transferred to Portugal from Ellesmere Port recently. Last year, Vauxhall sold 11,102 Astravans against 7,367 Astramaxes. Ford could benefit from Vauxhall's decision, now that it has opted for a single high volume body with the new Escort van, competing head-on with the Astramax.

It is very unlikely that Rover will replace the Maestro van, when the car range is replaced.
