Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Truck drivers are faring the worst in this year's pay round, according to a report from pay research unit, Incomes Data Services.

Pay deals in the road transport sector are running well below the rate of inflation, at between 5% and 7%.

Esso drivers won 10.9% on basic rates plus £250 for accepting new forecourt procedures — a package worth 12.6%, The Road Haulage Association's South Eastern region says: "It is a case of either accepting reasonable pay settlements or losing jobs," adding, "it would be wrong to assume drivers are happy."
