Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Bedford dealer Westerns (Dartford) when it handed over the last three Bedford TM tractor units to roll off the production lines.

Wiltshire haulier Devizes Transport bought the three tractors after Westerns had advertised the trucks in Commercial Motor just before Christmas and received more

than a dozen enquiries from all around the country.

Selling Bedfords used to be big business for Westerns and last year it took more than 52% of the UK's TM market. Of the total 162 Bedford TMs registered during 1986, Westerns sold 84.

Westerns finance and leasing executive Tony Searles is seen above (left) handing the

keys over to Devizes' managing director Alan Woods (centre); Devizes' transport director Peter Woods looks on. According to Searles, Bedford's withdrawal from the UK truck scene was 'a big blow to us. We were good at the business." The future is now "uncert-ain" he says.

The TMs are all powered by Cummins E290 engines.
