• TNT (UK) was justified in dismissing a loading bay operative employed at its main distribution centre at Atherstone, a Birmingham industrial tribunal decided this week, The court heard that the company suspected P Barwich of theft. An article was found in Barwick's possession, for which he was unable to provide proof of purchase.
The tribunal was satisfied that the article was missing from a TNT consignment, and that Barwick could not have purchased the article when he claimed.
