• The lack of success of "Operation Moondrop", the Greater London night-delivery scheme which ran from January to June last year, could be attributed to cost problems on the part of both retailers and suppliers, Mr. T. Scott, chairman of the GLC's planning and transportation committee, told the council But it was significant, he said, that, as a result of their experience of the scheme, two major supermarket operators had decided to keep their large central warehouses open for evening and night deliveries. One of those operators had found it economically attractive for a number of its retail branches to take in deliveries from its own warehouse out of hours.
