• A number of goods used by the road haulage industry have been suggested by the public to Mr. Crosland, President of the Board of Trade, as suitable for reference for inquiry by the Monopolies Commission.
They include motor vehicle spares, speedometers and tyres, and hand tools.
Mr. Crosland, in a report to Parliament last week, pointed out that because particular goods or services are put forward for inquiry, it does not mean that monopolistic or restrictive conditions prevail in the trade or industry concerned.
