• In a joint statement this week the RHA and FTA said it was not yet practicable for transport managers to train specifically for a transport manager's licence examination, since no syllabus had been agreed. The associations firmly understood that between the announcement of TML requirements and their implementation there would be ample time for the necessary machinery to be set up; and in any case existing managers were expected to get a licence on the basis of their experience, without examination.
