This has been used by EMI in the development of commercial products, particularly those for use in transport applications. EMI tells us that it welcomes inquiries particularly from component and equipment manufacturers wishing to make use of the facility, and immediate advice and service can be offered.

The facility comprises mechanical and climatic laboratories equipped to test components and most types of unit produced in light and medium engineering. It is approved by the Ministry of Technology. Test load sizes up to 2 cubic metres and 3,000kg weight can be handled and a wide range of climatic and mechanical environments can be simulated, as well as combinations such as temperature cycling with vibration.
