The annual meeting of the Institute of Metals will be held in London on March 8th-9th, when ten important. papers are to be presented for discussion. At the annual dinner at the Trocadero Restaurant on Wednesday, March 8th, lady members, as well as many •distinguished guests of the council, will be The annual May lecture will be delivered on May 3rd by Sir Ernest Rutherford, F.R.S., on "The Relation of the Elements.!'
The autumn meeting of the Institute will he held—for the first time—at Swansea on September 20th 22nd. From October to December (as well as during the present quarter) meetings of the various local sections of the Institute—membership of which is free to members of the parent body—will be held in London, Birmingham, Sheffield, Glasgow, Newcastle-on-Tyne, and elsewhere.

In view of the attractive nature of the programme of the Institute for the en. suing year it is expected that its growth .in 1922 will be even greater than it was last year, when the membership increased from 1,298 to 1,410—a record year's growth,
