At a meeting of the Gloucester Chamber of Trade, Mr. F. J. Pope said that, with one or two others, he had been engaged in the task of endeavouring to find a motorbus and char-a-banes centre. One of these was the old tanyard in Worcester Street, and some property adjoining, comprising an area of 8,000 square yards. and would be capable of housing 32 chars-a-bancs, which could arrive in the city, and depart without going over the Cross. The Mayor and the City Surveyor approved of the scheme, which, in his opinion, was a very good one. With regard to the approximate cost, he had received two estimates—one of £17,000 and the other considerably less. This was for • acquiring the properties, putting up the • necessary buildings, and constructing suitable roads.
A resolution was agreed to recommend the provision of two or more centres, and a committee was appointed to discuss the matter with the Motorbua Committee of the Corporation.
