Last month saw a resurgence in optimism among operators. After three months of decline, the optimism score ramped back up to +47 from April’s low of +19. Of the respondents, 71% said they were either very optimistic or fairly optimistic about their business’s prospects over the next 12 months, while 24% were either not very optimistic or not at all optimistic.
Own-account operators were the most positive, with an optimistic/not optimistic split of 83/15. Hire and reward hauliers were as positive as they have been for many months, posting a split of 66/22. Logistics and contract distribution firms produced a split of 65/35.
