Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The new-generation Ford Transit is going from streng-h to strength on

the used market, says British Car Auctions. Kevin Swallow reports.

Residuals for the new Ford Transit are rising ahead of the rest of the CV market, according to British Car Auctions (B CA).

The unprecedented demand for used Transits is being fuelled by the shortage of good stock across the country, says Duncan Ward, BCA's UK business development manager for CVs.

"I cannot recall any van increasing in value as substantially as the new Transit has," he adds. "You'd expect new models to make strong values when they first enter the used market, which the Transit certainly did. What is more surprising is to see initial launch values substantially improved for comparable vehicles three months later." Transit prices are up £900 compared with last December :average residuals for CV fleet and lease vehicles arc up £200 year on year.

Ward says:"There's little argument that 2007 picked up where 2(X)6 left off a relative shortage of light CV stock and kindly economic conditions for the typical end-user led to sustained demand. Demand is from the bottom up, with older budget vans selling as strongly as desirable retail-ready late-plate stock." •
