THE Ml WILL BE closed in both directions between J8 and J9 from 9pm to 9am on Saturday the 9, 16 and 23 June as part of the M1 widening scheme. Traffic will be diverted along the B487 Hemel Hempstead Road and the A5183 Redbourn Bypass.
The Ml widening project includes demolishing the Flamsteadbury, Norrington and Nicholls Farm bridges. Geoff Bethel, hlighways Agency project leader, says: "Demolishing these concrete structures is a huge undertaking; for safety reasons we have to close the motorway while work takes place, The bridge demolition work is needed so the widening can be carried out.
Further Further M1 closures are planned for late June and mid-July atJ10.
