Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The first Continental single-deck citybuses for Britain went into service in London last weekend.

Scancoaches, the Finnishowned London coach operator, has bought six Jonckheere-bodied Scania K92 12m singledeckers for a West London route taken over under contract to London Regional Transport.

It is the first independent to buy new, rather than secondhand, buses for an LRT contract since competitive tendering for routes was started last year.

The dual-door buses each have 47 seats and room for 27 standing passengers. They are rear-engined and are equipped with the Scania five-speed Computer Aided Gearshift (CAG) system.

They are also the first totally non-British and the first 12m vehicles to run on a London local service.

They are designed to ac commodate underfloor luggage lockers and can be used as short-haul coaches on Sundays, for example. Scancoaches will operate the route on the same frequency operated by London Buses.
