D ATES of Pay for drivers of C-licence vehicles in the sand and ballast industry have been amended as from the first full pay period from May 27. Drivers of vehicles under 12 tons gross laden weight now receive 3s. 4c1. an hour and of heavier vehicles 3s. lid. These. are Class 1 rates; those for Class 2 are ld. less. Employers already paying wages higher than basic may be exempt from any portion of the new increase that was in effect.
