AT A PUBLIC inquiry in Wrexham, the TC ruled that the 0-licence of AJH Williams, based in Pw11heli, be suspended for seven days from 31 July for maintenance breaches.

The TC said the North Wales haulage firm needed to demonstrate compliant operation with one vehicle before he could consider granting an increase in authorisation.

A total of five undertakings were given by the business and recorded on the licence: • Safety inspections will be planned and never more than four weeks apart. The PMI reports will be fully and properly completed, show rectifications and be retained for at least two years. • There will be a nil defect daily driver reporting system. Defect reports will show rectification • Maintenance systems, maintenance documentation and vehicle inspections will be audited by the RHA or a similar trade body after six months and then after 12 months. Audit reports will be prepared and acted on.

A copy of the report will be forwarded to the traffic area office within 14 days of its receipt together with the haulier's proposals for implementing its recommendations.

• All authorised vehicles will have a thorough and effective pre-MoT inspection.

• All tachographs will be analysed and acted upon.
