A SOUTHALL haulage firm has been fined £2,500 for having no 0licence the fifth time the company has been prosecuted for licence offences in 14 months.

The latest fine was imposed by Solihull Magistrates on Dysan Cargo Services of Hayes Road, Southall.

The firm has now been fined a total of £9500 since February last year for seven offences, including the latest charge,the court was told.

Dominic Green, prosecuting for the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency, told magistrates that a vehicle was stopped in November 2004 in Birmingham and was found to have no 0-licence. "The vehicle was carrying dates and the driver Balkir Singh did not know anything about a licence, One of the firm's directors later admitted there was no operator's licence," he said.

The firm's record, produced by Green in court, showed that the company had been fined £1,500 for having a vehicle in dangerous condition; £1,500 for having no 0-Licence; £1,000 for using an operator's licence with intent to deceive:000 for causing a person to drive without the correct class of licence; £500 for having no insurance and £2,000 for having no 0-licence all between Februaryand September 2004.
