by Eugene SiIke • Disgruntled LGV driving schools are taking the Driving Standards Agency to court over its decision to halt block bookings of driving tests.

Roadtrain has applied for a judicial review of the policy change, which takes effect from October. The Essex-based school is also suing the DSA for .£2,000 in lost income and has issued a County Court summons against DSA chief executive Dr John Ford. Roadtrain managing director Nick Smith says a customer withdrew four trainees from a driving course when he was told test places could not be guaranteed on 30 September. Smith was told the promised credit card booking system was not in place.

Roadtrain applied for a judicial review—on behalf of the Association of Driver Training Providers because the DSA did not consult on the change, says Smith.

Three other schools are about to apply for a High Court review and two more county court actions for damages are being prepared, he adds.
