aMs recent coverage of Australia's roadtrains has promfAed readers Peter and Malcolm Anderson from Leyburn, North Yorks to send a cutting from an Aussie newspaper detailing a world record roadtrain.
A 500hp Mack Superliner pulled 29 trailers at a GRTW (Gross Road Train Weight—geddit?) of more than 500 tonnes. It stretched to 439m, thereby cleating its own traffic jam. As you might imagine the rig wasn't geared up for a routine job: it was the winning entry in the New South Wales town of Bourke's annual Truck'n'Trac Road Train Challenge.
