• Volvo Bus's new BlOL low floor bus will be bodied exclusively for the British market by Scottish manufacturer Walter Alexander.
Known as the Ultra bus, it gives UK operators the option of a low, step-free floor that covers over 85% of the central gangway instead of the twozone stepped segment of other designs.
It will be marketed by Volvo as a complete BlOL package based on Saffle Karosseri's System 2000 body construction. This is based on a bolted-joint system for heavy-duty aluminium sections.
Pre-production right-handdrive models are being built at Alexander's Belfast plant: 50 are expected to be sold in 1995.
