MI Two of the first 10-tonne gross weight MAN L2000s have gone into service with Peterborough caterers' wholesaler Friar's Pride are fitted with unusual bodywork.
Both vehicles are 10.153F models with 155hp (116kW) 4.6-litre engines and ZF S5-42 fivespeed gearboxes.
Local firm Global Doors built the aluminium-framed bodies which have refrigerated (;RP box front ends to hold frozen food while their curtainsided rear sections accommodate goods such as cooking fat, sugar and flour.
The curtains have a reinforced mesh backing that helps restrain the cargo as well as making it more vandal proof.
Its aluminium floor is overlaid with ply flush to the side raves and sealed so that accidental spillages can be easily cleaned up.
Refrigeration is via a front-mount Carrier Mistral 310, fuelled by the truck's diesel tank and total payload is 4.8 tonnes.
The new MANs are replacements for the Iveco 79.10 integral vans in Friar's Pride's 21 truck fleet.
C Nationwide self-drive and contract hire company TLS Range has taken delivery of a further 10 MAN 17.192FK 17-tonne tipper chassis. Six are fitted with tipper bodies and the remainder with skip loaders. The vehicles will be used on civil engineering contracts throughout the UK. All vehicles were supplied by Halifax-based MAN dealer LCVV Truck and Van Centre.
