• Reading Transport will be the first bus operator to run Optare dual-doorway doubledeckers based on the Leyland Olympian chassis.
Reading will operate seven new Optares, powered by the Gardner six-cylinder 10.45-litre diesel-engine: five of them will be turbo charged and have autolube and air dryer systems.
The buses are being fitted with a newly designed lower saloon front end, with an electrically-heated doublecurvature laminated windscreer and hinged front corner panels.
