Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Anglo-lrish Hino truck assembler and distributor Harris has taken its first steps in establishing a dealer network in the UK, weeks after opening a distributions and spare parts factory in Catterick, North Yorkshire.

Two dealerships began business last week in Darlington and Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. They will stock vehicles assembled in Dublin and distributed from Catterick. Harris boss Brendan Fitzgerald promises to announce more dealers in coming weeks.

Bailey Trucks of Hoddesdon will sell mainly Hino tippers as well as the 4x2 38-tonner. Mel Broad, new sales manager at the former service and repair garage, says Hino is "coming in a strong way in this country."

John Wade Commercials of Darlington opened officially on Friday with an initial order of six trucks, again mostly tippers. It aims to sell 40 by Christmas and to step up sales after that. The company, managed by Claude Stewart, is part of the John Wade group, which also runs a 45-tipper haulage firm and plant hire company.

Fitzgerald says that Harris' Kent-based dealer, Acorn Truck Sales of Crayford, is selling well. The two new dealers can be contacted on: Balley, (0992) 441 551; Wade, (0325) 55277.

A new owner for troubled Hino truck dealer and distributor HCV of Warrington will be announced within days. Receiver Hewson and Lyon says a number of companies have bid for HCV as a going concern, and these offers are being evaluted (CM 30 June 6 July). The future of managing director Liam O'Neill is uncertain.
